ACLC LANGUAGE CENTRE

COURSES
You will take a placement test on your first day to determine your class level.
ESOL (pre-entry-Advanced)
Exam Preparations (ESOl and IELTS)
Medical English (for healthcare, nurses, doctors...)
Students require at least B1 (lower-intermediate) or higher on the CEFR scale to succeed in this course).
What level should learners ultimately be aiming for?
ESOL courses are for learners whose first language is not English. Learners develop their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in the English language, and also their knowledge of language.
These ESOL qualifications correspond with levels A1 to C1 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).(see resources).
CEFR levels are among the first things you read about when you get
information about language exams. Also known as A1 – A2 – B1 – B2 – C1 – C2, these letter-number combinations are used to describe your proficiency level in English. But what exactly do they mean? What are you supposed to know at A2 level, for example?
